Asahidake Day Tours

Asahidake is in the northern part of Daisetsuzan National Park and is the highest mountain in Hokkaido at 2,290m. It is also a live volcano and on clear days you can see plumes of white smoke billowing from its vents. Smaller smoldering fumaroles outline the immediate ski area boundaries adding to this mystical mountain. Many people ski the best snow of their lives here, partly due to the quantity and light quality of the powder.

In a nut-shell, this is lift accessed backcountry with little grooming and no ski patrol. There is one cable-car that services the whole area and accesses the tree line providing for 500 meters vertical of mature, well spaced birch and spruce trees. Although inland, it snows about 20 meters a season, making it one of the snowiest ski areas in Hokkaido. The mountain sits in one of those geographical zones where it gets precipitation from all directions, so even if it hasnft snowed in Furano, there is often fresh snow at Asahidake.

We typically ski up to 8 runs which provides for 4,000 vertical meters in a day.
