KAMIHO HOT-SPRING LODGE (Furano Area)

Kamiho Lodge sits nestled at the southern end of Daisetsuzan National Park, an area famous in Japan for the backcountry skiing and the abundance of thermal hot-springs. It is surrounded by 3 peaks that provide vertical descents of around 700 meters of alpine and tree skiing. One of those is Mt Tokachi which is a smoking volcano.

Bathing is in the thermal springs of the lodge and meals are Japanese style. Rooms are Japanese style.

Hakusou Hot- Spring Lodge

Hakusou Lodge is in the same area and offers a self catered option. Rooms are shared dormitories with bunks beds, or private Japanese style rooms. There is a large kitchen and dining area. You will find just as many people here enjoying the hot springs as for the backcountry skiing. The pools are some of the best in the region and on fine days, there are views of the live volcano from the outdoor bath.

January and February are good months for deep snow. March has longer days when the snow is still good and weather is more conducive to ski the alpine. In April the snow conditions are a mix of powder and corn with stable weather.

GOSHI HOT-SPRING LODGE (Niseko Area)

Steaming fumaroles, boiling pools and floating clouds of sulfur mist are a feature of this volcanic area. Cone shaped peaks with widely spaced birch trees and plentiful snowfall has made Niseko famous for its superb tree skiing and dependable powder, which can be up to 16 meters a year.

The accommodation has both western and Japanese style rooms with en suites. The cuisine is traditional kaiseki style meals. There are both indoor and outdoor hot spring baths.

A typical 3 day itinerary is to start from Niseko United Ski area and ski in to the lodge.? Day 2 would involve skiing the terrain around the lodge. Day 3 we would take you by vehicle to an area further afield such as Mt Yotei, the eMt Fuji of the North.f This itinerary involves 500-1,000 meter descents.

January and February are the best months to experience Nisekofs famously deep powder snow with February being the best month of the two for weather.
