Tokachidake Hot Spring Hotel

Tokachidake Hot Spring Hotel sits nestled at the southern end of Daisetsuzan National Park, an area famous for the backcountry skiing and the abundance of thermal hot-springs. The indigenous people of Hokkaido referred to this area as eKamui Mintara,f or the ePlayground of the Gods.f

Rooms are traditional Japanese style with tatami flooring and futon bedding. Enjoy bathing in the thermal hot springs of the hotel and the traditional Japanese food.


The Daisetsuzan Range is composed of the highest peaks in Hokkaido that average 2,000 meters elevation with alpine and tree skiing. The area provide vertical descents of 800 vertical meters of alpine and open tree skiing.


High precipitation amounts and low humidity levels produce some of the lightest and most dependable powder in the world. The southern end of the national park averages between 3-4 meters snowpack each season.

Typical Itinerary

Day 1
Transfer to Furano which is on the doorstep of the Daisetsuzan National Park, Japan's largest national park.

Day 2
Ski the 3 Step Mountain. From the peak there are spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and volcano. Finish in a natural forest hot spring reputed to have healing qualities.

Day 3
Ski some of Central Hokkaidofs finest tree skiing. If the weather allows we can assess the alpine for steep fall-line skiing, or if it is stormy stay below tree-line for 1,000 vertical meters of skiing. Retire to the hot-spring on your return to the hotel before dinner of Japanese hot pot.

Day 4
Ski the Tokachidake volcano after peering in to its steaming caldera. The ski descent provides for 750 meters which we can yo- yo around the dome for extra vertical and untracked powder. The day will finish with a soak in an outdoor hot spring that has views of the line you skied. Transfer to Furano.
