Tokachidake Backcountry
Just forty minutes from Furano is the Tokachidake area of Daisetsuzan National Park, sometimes referred to as the ePlayground of the Gods.f A highlight on a day tour here is to touch the volcanic steam of Mt Tokachi or to ski the Giant course of Mt Furano, which is some of the most amazing powder skiing in Hokkaido. Days are finished soaking in the many famous springs of the area.
Expect 2-3 hours skinning for skiers or snow-shoeing for snowboarders and then vertical descents of around 700 meters. This can be varied to suit your fitness and skiing levels.
