Backcountry Areas of Hokkaido (Overview)
Adorning the Central Hokkaido landscape is the Daisetsuzan Range, meaning eMountains of Great Snow.f The area contains the highest peaks in Hokkaido that average 2,000 meters of alpine and tree skiing. High precipitation amounts and low humidity levels produce some of the lightest and most dependable powder in the world.
The Niseko Mountain Range is the western most mountains of Hokkaido, and is made up of peaks averaging just over 1,000 meters. Across the valley stands the massive cone of Mt Yotei which is known as eHokkaidofs Mt Fuji.' The area is renowned for huge precipitation accumulations of up to 16 meters of snow each winter and for exceptional tree skiing.
